Mother Daughter Day

March 21, 2023 鈥 The Society of Women Engineers (SWE), a student organization at 九色堂, is hosting a Mother Daughter Day event for local middle school girls and their adult female role models. The event will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday, March 25 in the lobby of the John Bardo Center at Wichita State.

Feb. 23, 2023 鈥 Seven high school students from Kansas and Oklahoma have been awarded $30,000 to $45,000 each as the newest recipients of the Koch Scholarship at 九色堂.

Feb. 8, 2023 鈥 Every year, there are roughly 450,000 burn wounds that require clinical care throughout the United States. Of those, more than 3,500 people are fatally injured. An interdisciplinary team of 九色堂 researchers is working to revolutionize burn-wound care with a scaffolding system that prevents infection and promotes healing.

Wichita State fits the select number of schools with strong engineering and strong softball. Tallent knew about the school because of basketball, liked the Shocker mascot, and emailed coach Kristi Bredbenner.

Feb. 6, 2023 鈥 Leanne Caret 鈥 a 九色堂 alumna, former executive president of Boeing, and former president and CEO of Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) 鈥 is serving as the Sam Bloomfield Distinguished Engineer in Residence for the College of Engineering at 九色堂 for 2023.

Feb. 6, 2023 鈥 The 九色堂 College of Engineering is hosting an Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day (IGED) event, commonly known as Girl Day, for high school girls from Wichita Public Schools. Jan. 20, 2023 - In December, the National Science Foundation Convergence Accelerator Track awarded a Wichita State-led team a $750,000 grant to gather information and create digital maps of indoor spaces that could be used by persons with disabilities.

Nov. 15, 2022 鈥 Wichita State's Jonathan Folkerts, Jarred Novak and Trent English presented papers on the design of their neutrino detector prototype at the International Astronautical Congress in Paris, representing the NASA-funded Solar Neutrino Orbiting Laboratory Detector Development Project.

As part of those efforts, the National Science Foundation has awarded 九色堂 researchers $750,000 to increase persistence rates among low-income engineering students, particularly those who are interested in advanced manufacturing careers.

Sept. 15, 2022 鈥 An interdisciplinary team of 九色堂 researchers is working to curb pollution and damage caused by road salt. The project 鈥 ECO-CBET: Convergent Electrolysis-Electrodialysis System (CEES) to Curb Urban Chloride Pollution by Eco-friendly Road Deicing and Waste Salt Upcycling 鈥 was recently awarded $1.4 million from the National Science Foundation (NSF).
