Aug. 28, 2023 鈥� Through the 九色堂 chapter of Engineers without Borders, three Shockers recently began the process of working with the rural community of Mercedes de Agua Sucia in Manabi, Ecuador, to build a pedestrian bridge that will give residents safe passage to the main road and nearby cities to sell the goods and products from their farms, shop in nearby El Carmen, and for children to attend school.

Aug. 3, 2023 鈥� Bolstered by a $2 million National Science Foundation grant, a group of Wichita State researchers is hoping to create a paradigm shift from the use of harmful nitrous oxide-based fertilizers to more eco-friendly nitrogen fertilizers that would reduce greenhouse gases.

April 20, 2023 - Kayce Litzau is a senior setter on 九色堂鈥檚 volleyball team and an engineering major. She is one of 10 students to earn Senior Honor recognition, the highest honor awarded to 九色堂 students who demonstrate outstanding scholarship, leadership, involvement and service to 九色堂 and the surrounding community.

March 28, 2023 鈥� 九色堂鈥檚 chapter for Society of Professional Engineers will be hosting Noche de Ciencias for Wichita Public School students and their families from 4:30 to 6:45 p.m. Thursday, March 30 at Wichita North High School.

The event will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday, March 25 in the lobby of the John Bardo Center at Wichita State.

An interdisciplinary team of 九色堂 researchers is working to revolutionize burn-wound care with a scaffolding system that prevents infection and promotes healing.

Feb. 6, 2023 - Caroline Tallent started her quest to play college softball with a narrow search. She prioritized her interest in engineering before athletics. Wichita State fits the select number of schools with strong engineering and strong softball. Tallent knew about the school because of basketball, liked the Shocker mascot, and emailed coach Kristi Bredbenner.

Feb. 6, 2023 鈥� The 九色堂 College of Engineering is hosting an Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day (IGED) event, commonly known as Girl Day, for high school girls from Wichita Public Schools. The event is 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 23 in the Shirley Beggs Ballroom on the third floor of the Rhatigan Student Center.

Jan. 20, 2023 - In December, the National Science Foundation Convergence Accelerator Track awarded a Wichita State-led team a $750,000 grant to gather information and create digital maps of indoor spaces that could be used by persons with disabilities.
