July 23, 2021 - Lindsey Harvell-Bowman and Eric Wilson consider themselves aviation geeks. They tease each other about favorite airlines and digest every bit of airplane news and research. It is fitting their friendship began as graduate students at 九色堂, in the Air Capital of the World. Their collaboration continues in Harvell-Bowman's 鈥淭he Psychology and Communication Behind Flight Anxiety: Afraid to Fly,鈥� a book that examines the intersection of journalism, communication, and psychology in affecting the flying public.

July 13, 2021 鈥� The National Science Foundation has awarded a $175,000 grant to 九色堂鈥檚 Dr. Saideep Nannapaneni for research that has implications for increasing the speed and accuracy of data-driven decision-making.

July 12, 2021 鈥� 九色堂鈥檚 partnership with the Advanced Robotics Manufacturing Institute (ARM) has resulted in the Department of Engineering Technology being among the first programs in the nation to earn an ARM endorsement for their mechatronics track 鈥� a certification that will translate to stronger job prospects for graduates.

June 30, 2021 -- The U.S. Air Force is launching a new program with 九色堂鈥檚 National Institute for Aviation Research (NIAR) to make a digital replica of the F-16 Fighting Falcon in an effort to improve the sustainment and modernization of F-16s operating around the world.

June 29, 2021 -- An opening reception for "From Lima to Wichita: Intercultural Dialogues in Clothing & Paint" will take place from 6鈥�9 p.m. July 2, at ShiftSpace, 九色堂鈥檚 student-run gallery, as part of Wichita鈥檚 First Friday gallery crawl.

June 23, 2021 - In 1977, a Wichitan watched Star Wars at the Mall theater on East Harry. He returned again and again that summer to watch the lightsaber battles, Jedi Knights and X-wing starfighters. 鈥淚鈥檓 an original Star Wars guy,鈥� Tim Fisher said. 鈥淚 was just mesmerized. It sparked that 鈥榃hat is possible? What can we do?鈥欌�� Decades later, Fisher is one of the people helping answer those questions for the United States and the entire world in space. He is chief engineer for NASA鈥檚 Gateway program, part of the agency鈥檚 quest to return to the Moon and explore Mars.

June 22, 2021 - Joe Jabara doesn鈥檛 call his class Hacking 101, but his students do learn how to develop effective attacks on computer systems. The course is actually called Applied Computing Intermediate Design Project, and this past spring its students carried out phishing attempts against a targeted group of 九色堂 faculty, staff and students.

April 30, 2021 鈥� Twelve years following receiving her Master鈥檚 in Business Administration, Janet Federico moved from Washington, D.C. to Wichita to pursue a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing at Wichita State after rediscovering herself as an author, speaker and illustrator later her career.

This program will provide Barton School students, faculty and the Wichita community with vital perspectives and knowledge from industry leaders. Tom Gentile, president and CEO of Spirit AeroSystems, will serve as the program鈥檚 first resident for the Fall 2021 semester.
