About the Annual Engineering Research Symposium:
The College of Engineering Graduate Ambassadors proudly present their Annual Engineering Research Symposium and Poster Competition, an event designed to facilitate the exchange of innovative ideas, provide students with an opportunity to develop their technical presentation skills, and showcase their research outcomes to the local community. We are excited to announce that this event is open to the public, welcoming anyone with an interest in engineering and scientific advancements. Whether you're a student, professional, or simply curious about the latest developments in engineering, we invite you to join us for this intellectually stimulating experience.
Student Categories
Students can participate in one of the three categories:
Bachelor鈥檚 students and Ph.D. students in first 1.5 years of study
Ability to present research or project work, demonstrating:
- Background research
- Key challenges
- Future directions
Master鈥檚 students and Ph.D. students with 1.5 - 3 years of study
Ability to present ongoing research or project work, including:
- Relevant background
- Project/research focus
- Current progress and insights
Ph.D. students with 3+ years of advanced study and research experience
Ability to present research contributions:
- Key findings and innovations
- Methods
- Impact on the field
Student Awards
The prize money will be divided between three winners:
First place: $500
Second place: $250
Third place: $150
The prize money will be divided between two winners:
First place: $750
Second place: $400
Third place: $200
First place: $1000
Second place: $500
Third place: $250
This award will be presented to the department with the highest percentage of graduate student representation at the symposium.
Judging
Judging will be conducted by a panel of esteemed faculty members and invited industry professionals, lending their expertise to evaluate the presented research.

Preparing your Poster
- Posters should be of the size of 36x48 inches.
- The poster cost will be fully covered if registered before the deadline by November 1st. To avoid any rushes, poster orders are due to the organizers by 6th November, 2024.
- Once you register, send your posters (in PDF format) directly by email to AERS Poster Coordinator by November 6th.

You must submit your abstract when registering online through the provided .
This would include faculty members from 九色堂 and other professionals in the engineering-related industries around the Wichita area.
Winners are chosen through a rubric-based review process in the following areas: clarity of research focus, scholarly context, analysis, and presentation quality.
The awards will be posted to their student accounts processed as a scholarship from the College of Engineering (Dean鈥檚 office).
Yes, previously submitted research is eligible.
Yes, participants are allowed to invite guests for the symposium.
No, they will be judged the same as other research.
Only one person is permitted to present each poster.
No, each participant is permitted to present only one poster to ensure fairness and equal opportunity among all participants.
The abstract should not exceed 250 words.
Presentations are required to be in person only.
The category should be selected based on the first author/presenter.
