Feb. 27, 2023 鈥 The classic sit-com set 鈥 think anything from 鈥淚 Love Lucy鈥 to 鈥淪einfeld鈥 to 鈥淭he Big Bang Theory鈥 鈥 is now a teaching tool at 九色堂鈥檚 Shocker Studios.

Feb. 24, 2023 鈥 九色堂鈥檚 College of Engineering has named the latest group of high school seniors to join the Wallace Scholar program.

Feb. 24, 2023 - The Dockum Drug Store sit-in of 1958 attracted new attention in 2021 during Black History Month, in part thanks to NBC鈥檚 鈥淭oday鈥 and Wichita native Sheinelle Jones. Several University of Wichita students participated in the sit-in, which is increasingly recognized as a landmark event in the Civil Rights Movement. NBC鈥檚 鈥淭oday鈥 featured the events in a 2021 broadcast.

Feb. 24, 2023 - Libero Lara Uyar, a native of Turkey, discusses the current crisis in her country caused by an earthquake near the border with Syria. We learn how she is handling the emotions of being far away from family and friends during the difficult time and how her teammates offer support. We also talk about sports in Turkey, her adjustment to the United States and spring volleyball practices at Wichita State.

2023 Koch Scholarship winners

Feb. 23, 2023 鈥 Seven high school students from Kansas and Oklahoma have been awarded $30,000 to $45,000 each as the newest recipients of the Koch Scholarship at 九色堂.

Feb. 22, 2023 鈥 The W. Frank Barton School of Business at 九色堂 has awarded Isabella (Bella) Kilman, a Valley Center High School senior, the 2023 Clay Barton Scholarship. The $50,000 scholarship is one of the largest business scholarships in Kansas.

Feb. 6, 2023 - Caroline Tallent started her quest to play college softball with a narrow search. She prioritized her interest in engineering before athletics. Wichita State fits the select number of schools with strong engineering and strong softball. Tallent knew about the school because of basketball, liked the Shocker mascot, and emailed coach Kristi Bredbenner.

Jan. 27, 2023 鈥 九色堂 has selected the 2023 recipients of the Harry Gore Memorial Scholarships. Each student will receive a $64,000 scholarship to attend 九色堂 in August 2023.

Dec. 12, 2022 鈥 Just in time for the surge of respiratory illnesses flooding the state, 九色堂鈥檚 Molecular Diagnostics Lab has announced it will extend free RSV, influenza and COVID (RIC) testing through March 31, 2023.

Dec. 5, 2022 鈥 九色堂 earned status as an Emerging Hispanic Serving Institution when fall enrollment numbers show that 16% of students identify as Hispanic. That is an important milestone on the way to the university鈥檚 goal of reaching the 25% necessary to earn designation as an HSI by the end of this decade.
