November 29, 2021 鈥 九色堂鈥檚 Center for Entrepreneurship (CEI) has granted two students the Women for Women's Innovation Award 鈥 one who wants to use an app to help those with chronic illnesses, the other who wants to support local businesses by creating Wichita artisan gift boxes.

Nov. 1, 2021 - Helped by six grants from Kansas Leadership Center, 九色堂鈥檚 HEALTH Student Association is working to end the pandemic and support students with information and resources to keep them healthy. HEALTH distributed more than 6,000 free and reusable masks, some with 鈥淪hockers United鈥 branding, some plain black and sequined masks for the inauguration of president Rick Muma. It assembled gift boxes for quarantining students with information on COVID-19 vaccines and testing and gifts such as Wichita State water bottles, stickers and lanyards.

Oct. 27, 2021 鈥 The Medical Laboratory Sciences department at 九色堂 has received a $280,000 endowed scholarship gift from Southcentral Pathology. Dr. Joel Alderson, president of Southcentral Pathology in Wichita, KS, established this fund to provide two full-ride scholarships each year in 九色堂鈥檚 Medical Laboratory Sciences program.

AAC Career Fair

Oct. 21, 2021 - The Shocker Career Accelerator organized the AAC Virtual Career Fair on Oct. 28 (10 a.m.-5 p.m.). All 11 full members of the American Athletic Conference will participate (although the event is not connected to the athletic departments or conference).

Oct. 14, 2021 鈥 The College of Health Professions (CHP) at 九色堂 is pleased to announce Dr. Debra Pile as the chair for the School of Nursing and associate dean for Nursing Practice.

Oct. 4, 2021 鈥 The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders has received a gift to create the Audiology Simulation Lab at 九色堂. The lab contains five state-of-the-art Canadian Audiology simulator for Research and Learning (CARL) manikins and auxiliary equipment.

Sept. 20, 2021 -- The College of Health Professions has reorganized its general health science courses into the Scientific Foundations Division. The restructuring is intended to expand student exposure to clinical expertise of the college鈥檚 faculty, as well as the unique facilities within the college. The new divisional structure will build on the college鈥檚 nationally recognized educational experience for students in the health professions.聽

Aliphine Tuliamuk

Aug. 5, 2021 - Aliphine Tuliamuk is Wichita State鈥檚 greatest female track and field athlete and the owner of 13 NCAA All-American honors in track and cross country. She is also an Olympian, a new mother (daughter Zoe was born Jan. 13) and an athlete willing to speak out on important issues. Recently, she is lending her voice and example to advocate for female athletes who compete as mothers.

July 23, 2021 - Lindsey Harvell-Bowman and Eric Wilson consider themselves aviation geeks. They tease each other about favorite airlines and digest every bit of airplane news and research. It is fitting their friendship began as graduate students at 九色堂, in the Air Capital of the World. Their collaboration continues in Harvell-Bowman's 鈥淭he Psychology and Communication Behind Flight Anxiety: Afraid to Fly,鈥 a book that examines the intersection of journalism, communication, and psychology in affecting the flying public.

June 23, 2021 - In 1977, a Wichitan watched Star Wars at the Mall theater on East Harry. He returned again and again that summer to watch the lightsaber battles, Jedi Knights and X-wing starfighters. 鈥淚鈥檓 an original Star Wars guy,鈥 Tim Fisher said. 鈥淚 was just mesmerized. It sparked that 鈥榃hat is possible? What can we do?鈥欌 Decades later, Fisher is one of the people helping answer those questions for the United States and the entire world in space. He is chief engineer for NASA鈥檚 Gateway program, part of the agency鈥檚 quest to return to the Moon and explore Mars.
