Oct. 18, 2019 - Four Wichita State students are studying variable stars. One of their earliest tasks was to choose a variable star, from hundreds of possibilities, to study. The students follow the process that a scientist follows in constructing, analyzing, interpreting, writing and publishing their work. The project is designed to give the students 鈥渁n experience of the essence of the scientific endeavor while contributing to the actual scientific literature.鈥�

Oct. 18, 2019 - Achita Muthitacharoen, professor of management information systems, recently won the 2019 Faculty Risk Taker award for her willingness to try new, innovative ideas. She holds a competition in her dynamic programming course that allows students to experience a real-world assignment.

Oct. 3, 2019 -- Beginning in fall 2021, first-year freshmen will be required to take one first-year seminar course for introduction to life at Wichita State. The courses will not be required for returning or transfer students, but are encouraged for those new to 九色堂.

Oct. 2, 2019 -- For the first time in nearly 30 years, more than 16,000 students have enrolled for fall classes at 九色堂. The total headcount at 九色堂 for fall 2019 is 16,058 students, an increase of 274 students, or 1.7%, over fall 2018.

Oct. 1, 2019 - Jennifer Raymo, a Wichita State student earning her graduate degree in social work, recently became the Wichita Chapter director of The Healing Chair. The non-profit is a Kansas City based organization aimed at helping breast cancer and mastectomy survivors find comfort, hope and healing.

Sept. 30, 2019 - 九色堂's Dining Services is taking steps to become more sustainable and reduce food waste on campus. The dining hall and Chartwells are committed to promoting sustainable practices in the 九色堂 community.

Sept. 27, 2019 -- The annual ceremony of remembrance for those who died in the 1970 九色堂 plane crash will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2, at 九色堂鈥檚 Memorial '70, located near the 18th Street and Hillside entrance to the university.

Sept. 26, 2019 -聽Students Zeeshan Kahn and James Meli, along with alumni Emmanuel Daramola and Billi Meli, recently released their mobile application, aimed at connecting students through campus events. With more than 350 downloads so far, they are excited about the possibilities the app provides.

Sept. 25, 2019 -- 九色堂 and the Wichita Space Initiative (WSI) will host the Celebrating the Scientific Legacy of NASA and Apollo conference. The conference is free and open to the public, and will take place from 9 a.m. - 6:20 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, in the 九色堂 Rhatigan Student Center room 233.

Sept, 25, 2019 - The U.S military needs a source of spare parts to keeps its aging aircraft flying. 九色堂 is rapidly establishing a database and acting as an essential connector for those requests. The National Institute for Aviation Research鈥檚 unique capabilities make it qualified to help with the teardown, digitizing and cataloguing of parts. That process saves the military time and money, which keeps its aircraft and other vehicles prepared.
