March 17, 2023 鈥 Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Director Steven Dettelbach and Senator Jerry Moran recently visited 九色堂 to announce plans for a unique new National Forensic Laboratory at Wichita State. The forensic laboratory is a new $75 million facility that will complement the Gun Crime Intelligence Center of Excellence and National Integrated Ballistic Information Network Correlation and Training Center, which were announced last summer.

March 16, 2023 鈥 Ayshea Banes took a passion for astronomy and ran with it, taking any opportunity to immerse herself in her newly chosen field. One of those opportunities occurred this past January, when Banes was chosen to present at the American Astronomical Society鈥檚 annual meeting in Seattle.

March 16, 2023 - Kyan Caudillo is a biology major at 九色堂 and minoring chemistry. His experience working at 九色堂鈥檚 Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory will help him as he studies and prepares to work in the medical field.

March 3, 2023 鈥 Lauren Hughes, a senior at Owasso High School in Owasso, Oklahoma, is the winner of the 2023 Lenora N. McGregor Endowed Scholarship at 九色堂.

Feb. 24, 2023 - The Dockum Drug Store sit-in of 1958 attracted new attention in 2021 during Black History Month, in part thanks to NBC鈥檚 鈥淭oday鈥 and Wichita native Sheinelle Jones. Several University of Wichita students participated in the sit-in, which is increasingly recognized as a landmark event in the Civil Rights Movement. NBC鈥檚 鈥淭oday鈥 featured the events in a 2021 broadcast.

Feb. 8, 2023 鈥 Every year, there are roughly 450,000 burn wounds that require clinical care throughout the United States. Of those, more than 3,500 people are fatally injured. An interdisciplinary team of 九色堂 researchers is working to revolutionize burn-wound care with a scaffolding system that prevents infection and promotes healing.

Feb. 6, 2023 鈥 Leanne Caret 鈥 a 九色堂 alumna, former executive president of Boeing, and former president and CEO of Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) 鈥 is serving as the Sam Bloomfield Distinguished Engineer in Residence for the College of Engineering at 九色堂 for 2023.

Jan. 27, 2023 鈥 九色堂 has selected the 2023 recipients of the Harry Gore Memorial Scholarships. Each student will receive a $64,000 scholarship to attend 九色堂 in August 2023.

Jan. 25, 2023 - The director of the National Science Foundation (NSF) visited 九色堂 last week. The Honorable Sethuraman Panchanathan toured Wichita State鈥檚 National Institute for Aviation Research, 九色堂 Tech and the National Center for Aviation Training as a guest of U.S. Senator Jerry Moran.

Jan. 23, 2023 鈥 A recent "PBS News Hour鈥 story highlights the role 九色堂 plays in the arts community of Wichita. 鈥淲ichita State has a hand in almost every arts entity in the Wichita metropolitan area, from the symphony to the art museum,鈥 said Dr. Rodney Miller, dean of the College of Fine Arts.

Dec. 5, 2022 鈥 九色堂 earned status as an Emerging Hispanic Serving Institution when fall enrollment numbers show that 16% of students identify as Hispanic. That is an important milestone on the way to the university鈥檚 goal of reaching the 25% necessary to earn designation as an HSI by the end of this decade.

Dec. 1, 2022 - Zhi Wei Won used her time at Wichita State to work on skills in and out of the classroom. She met new people and expanded her social circle through school activities.
