September 26, 2022 - The 九色堂 Board of Trustees approved funding in September 2022 for phases 1A and 1B for the capital improvement plan to replace Cessna Stadium for a total project cost of approximately $11.8 million.

Sept. 19, 2022 - Wichita State shortstop Sydney McKinney is a softball All-American, artist, entrepreneur, and diligent brand manager for herself. When NCAA and college administrators conceived of NIL benefits 鈥 compensating student-athletes for their talent and time 鈥 McKinney is the perfect example of the intended outcome.

Dr. Ryan Amick

Sept. 6, 2022 - 九色堂鈥檚 College of Innovation and Design announces Dr. Ryan Amick as one of our Innovators in Residence for the 2022-2023 academic year. Amick, a Wichita State alumnus, is a principal human factors engineer at NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas.

Woolsey Hall

Aug. 12, 2022 - Wayne and Kay Woolsey Hall, the state-of-the-art facility that will be home to the W. Frank Barton School of Business at 九色堂, is set to open for classes Aug. 22.

Nick Elam

July 27, 2022 鈥 Nick Elam, educator and inventor of what is known as the Elam Ending in basketball, will speak to College of Applied Studies students at 5:15 p.m. Aug. 23 in 231 Hubbard Hall. Other 九色堂 students and the general public are also invited to attend free of charge.

July 25, 2022 - 鈥淓xplore Wichita State鈥 is a seven-stop campus audio tour featuring significant sites and university history. Host Carla Eckels of KMUW narrates. The tour starts at the Ulrich Museum of Art and ends at the Carnegie Library Columns at 17th and Fairmount.

June 22, 2022 鈥 Wichita State alum Julian Chee has been flying high since his graduation from Wichita State in 2021. Not only has he landed a job with Airbus on the Innovation Campus, but he's also designed the paper airplane that broke the world record for distance.

June 15, 2022 鈥 九色堂 President Rick Muma is excited to announce the hiring of Kevin Saal as 九色堂鈥檚 new Director of Athletics.

Chidera Okoro

June 3, 2022 - Chidera Okoro is learning computer skills and coding language as an intern at 九色堂鈥檚 Media Resources Center. She competes in the long jump and triple jump for the track and field team and is a three-time member of the Athletic Director鈥檚 Honor Roll.

Esports students

May 18, 2022 鈥 After winning the Eastern College Athletic Conference Championship, the Wichita State Varsity Esports Valorant team qualified for a direct bid to compete in the Collegiate Esports Commissioners Cup, a milestone for 九色堂's Esports program.

2021 commencement

May 12, 2022 鈥 More than 2,400 students are eligible to participate in the 124th spring commencement ceremonies Saturday, May 14, at 九色堂. Ceremonies will be held in Charles Koch Arena.

Alex Ammar and Pamela Clancy Ammar

May 6, 2022 鈥 Pamela Clancy Ammar and Alex Ammar were named recipients of the 2022 Fairmount Founders鈥 Award at the annual Fairmount Society dinner held on May 5 at Mark Arts. The 九色堂 Foundation gives the award out annually to recognize those who provide outstanding service and generosity to 九色堂.

Chonnor Ludolph

May 5, 2022 鈥 Chonnor Ludolph was named Mr. Shocker at the athletic department鈥檚 Gold Carpet Awards in April, given to a senior who displays excellence in athletics, academics, character, service, and personal development. Ludolph finished third in the American Athletic Conference decathlon in 2021. Chonnor is one of more than 2,400 students eligible for spring 2022 graduation.
