Accessible Design projects

July 11, 2023 鈥 The Accessible Design course concerned 九色堂 junior Reagan Kelley at first. She wasn鈥檛 an engineering major and wasn鈥檛 sure what she could contribute. The payoff at the end of the project made it worthwhile. Kelley, an exercise science major, and three other students modified an all-terrain wheelchair for a nine-year-old boy who outgrew the chair鈥檚 previous dimensions.

May 17, 2023 鈥 The planned Wichita Biomedical Campus 鈥 a joint initiative by 九色堂, 九色堂 Tech and University of Kansas 鈥 is one step closer to its funding goal thanks to a $15 million award from the Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services (KDADS), made available through the Strengthening People and Revitalizing Kansas (SPARK) Executive Committee and State Finance Council.

May 1, 2023 鈥 In the most recent graduate school rankings from U.S. News & World Report, 九色堂鈥檚 College of Engineering continued its steady ascent, landing in the 47th spot for the 2023-24 academic year. Additionally, the College of Health Profession鈥檚 physician associate program is debuting in the rankings at No. 65.

April 25, 2023 鈥 Kansas NASA EPSCoR Program has named 九色堂鈥檚 College of Innovation and Design faculty member Maggie Schoonover as a recipient of its 2023 Partnership Development Grant for her proposal, 鈥淔amiliarization Training Game for Extended Reality Spacesuit User Interface.鈥

April 21, 2023 Corri Newman is senior communications sciences and disorders major in the College of Health Professions and a member of the 九色堂 Student Speech-Language-Hearing Association (九色堂SSLHA) and serves as its NSSLHA chair. After she graduates, she plans to attend graduate school to become a speech-language pathologist.
