Feb. 24, 2022 鈥斅燭he W. Frank Barton School of Business at 九色堂 has chosen two recipients to receive the 2022 Professor Fran Jabara Scholarship in Entrepreneurship. This year鈥檚 winners are Cohen Ayres from Garden Plains and Grace Simon of Wichita. They will each receive $32,700 over four years to attend 九色堂 and major in entrepreneurship.
Feb. 23, 2022 鈥 Wichita State alumnus J. Robert Young has pledged a gift of $3 million to provide resources that will help students build successful careers. Of that total, $2 million will endow the J. Robert Young Executive-in-Residence Program in the W. Frank Barton School of Business. The remaining $1 million will support the Shocker Success Center project, which will consolidate 17 student services in Clinton Hall.
Feb. 22, 2022 - The Dean鈥檚 Advisory Board for the W. Frank Barton School of Business at 九色堂 is excited to announce Margaret Dechant as its new leader. Dechant, CEO and partner at 6 Meridian, will take over for Clark Bastian. Dechant currently serves as a member of the board and looks to bring her knowledge and passion for the Barton School and 九色堂 to her appointment. Bastian chairman of Fidelity Bank, will remain on the board after his term as chair comes to an end in June.
Feb. 22, 2022 鈥 The Wichita Litter Study was borne from community concern about the number of single-use plastic bags floating throughout the city. The study focused on 12 small sites within Wichita municipal parks 鈥 two parks within each city council district; and the data, while concerning, was not altogether a surprise for the research team.
Feb. 21, 2022 鈥 A proposal submitted by an interdisciplinary 九色堂 team of seven members was selected for the top 10 in the 2021-22 NASA Space Suit Interface Technologies for Students (SUITS) Design Challenge.
Feb. 18, 2022 鈥 The entrance to 九色堂鈥檚 Innovation Campus on the corner of 21st and Oliver streets is about to get a Shocker makeover with new signage and landscaping.
Feb. 18, 2022 鈥 Kelsey Mosiman of Leavenworth and Joel Reyes of Wichita have been named the 2022 Doris and Ralph Klose Scholarship worth approximately $19,000. The two high school seniors competed in a scholarship competition at Corbin Education Center in November 2021, and they will begin their Wichita State education in fall 2022.

Feb. 14, 2022 - The W. Frank Barton School of Business at 九色堂 has named Jon Rolph, president and CEO of Thrive Restaurant Group and a member of the Kansas Board of Regents, its Executive-in-Residence for the spring 2022 semester.
Feb. 11, 2022 鈥 As a young boy growing up in Oklahoma City Nicolas Reyes loved to hear the hum of the fighter jets from the nearby Tinker Air Force Base. Nicolas Reyes 鈥 a junior studying electrical engineering in Wichita State鈥檚 Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering 鈥 has always wanted to work in the aviation industry. He finally got his chance this past summer when he completed a virtual internship with Lockheed Martin. While there, Nicolas worked on the F-35 Lightning II for their location in Fort Worth.
Feb. 9, 2022 鈥 A bequest from the estate of Richard "Dick" Smith will provide about $5.5 million each to 九色堂 and the University of Kansas to endow full-ride scholarships for students at those schools.
Feb. 4, 2022 鈥 Ella Tucker, senior at Epic Charter Schools in Tulsa, Oklahoma, has been awarded the 2022 九色堂 Clay Barton Scholarship. She will receive $12,500 a year for four years to attend Wichita State. The $50,000 Barton Scholarship is one of the largest business scholarships in Kansas.
