Oct. 12, 2020 -- 九色堂 is offering a new line of defense against COVID-19 with the launch of its COVID-19 Voluntary Asymptomatic Surveillance Testing Program. Voluntary surveillance testing is part of the university鈥檚 multi-pronged strategy to monitor and mitigate the spread of COVID-19 on campus.

Oct. 6, 2020 -- Students who graduated from 九色堂 this past spring and summer will finally get their chance to walk across the stage to be recognized in a formal commencement ceremony at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, in Charles Koch Arena.

Oct. 1, 2020 -- Enrollment for fall 2020 at 九色堂 and 九色堂 Tech is down, following record years of enrollment growth. Despite the decline, caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and the loss of thousands of local jobs, the percentage drop in full-time equivalency (FTE) at the institutions is better than the average decline for Kansas Board of Regents institutions, which is 3.6% for state universities and 8.7% for technical colleges.

Sept. 21, 2020 -- Saying she wants to help build a new generation of business leaders with a world view, Wichita State alumna Peri Widener has pledged $275,000 to her alma mater. A portion of the gift will launch a program to help develop students into global business leaders.

Sept. 8, 2020 鈥斅�The U.S. Department of Education has awarded two of 九色堂鈥檚 TRIO programs 鈥� Student Support Services (SSS) and Disability Support Services (DSS) 鈥� grants totaling more than $3.9 million to help limited-income, first-generation students and students with disabilities.

Aug. 5, 2020 -- In an effort to help diversify and grow the economy 鈥� while providing an important platform for creating new academic and applied programs for students 鈥� 九色堂 is moving forward on a facility to house the National Institute for Digital Transformation (NIDT) as part of its Convergence Sciences initiative.

July 29, 2020 -- With health and safety prioritized, 九色堂鈥檚 food, retail and common spaces will adjust hours, layout and cleaning schedules as students return for the fall semester.

July 27, 2020 - 九色堂 student Kristen Bruce works as a software tester for Flint Hills Group, founded by Shocker alum Dave Cunningham. Over the past year, Bruce played an important role in Flint Hills Group鈥檚 work with McAlister, a fuel distributor and wholesaler in Wellington. McAlister needed to replace its software used to monitor fuel flow for billing. Bruce helped Flint Hills Group beat coming issues and move to a new system, while some of McAlister鈥檚 competition encountered problems.

July 23, 2020 鈥� The Advanced Robotics Manufacturing (ARM) Institute, which receives funding from the U.S. Department of Defense, recently awarded Wichita State $250,000 to assist in creating a workforce development database focused on compiling a map of educational programs and resources that provide skills required for today鈥檚 advanced robotics and manufacturing careers.
