July 27, 2020 - 九色堂 student Kristen Bruce works as a software tester for Flint Hills Group, founded by Shocker alum Dave Cunningham. Over the past year, Bruce played an important role in Flint Hills Group鈥檚 work with McAlister, a fuel distributor and wholesaler in Wellington. McAlister needed to replace its software used to monitor fuel flow for billing. Bruce helped Flint Hills Group beat coming issues and move to a new system, while some of McAlister鈥檚 competition encountered problems.

July 23, 2020 鈥� The Advanced Robotics Manufacturing (ARM) Institute, which receives funding from the U.S. Department of Defense, recently awarded Wichita State $250,000 to assist in creating a workforce development database focused on compiling a map of educational programs and resources that provide skills required for today鈥檚 advanced robotics and manufacturing careers.

July 16, 2020 鈥� The National Science Foundation (NSF) has awarded more than $1.1 million to Dr. Vinod Namboodiri, professor of electrical engineering and computer science at 九色堂, and his team to create a community-wide wayfinding system for people with disabilities.

July 14, 2020 - Greg Hand, professor of epidemiology, medicine and physical activity and sports sciences at West Virginia University, has been named dean of the College of Health Professions at 九色堂, effective Aug. 9, 2020.聽He served as the founding dean of West Virginia University鈥檚 School of Public Health, and previous to that role, he was the associate dean for Research, Practice and Information Technology at the University of South Carolina鈥檚 School of Public Health.

July 8, 2020 -- Navatek LLC, a contractor focused on technology research for U.S. government agencies such as the Department of Defense and NASA, is opening an office on the 九色堂 campus in fall 2020.

June 22, 2020 鈥� Dr. Breanna Boppre, assistant professor of criminal justice, grew up while both her parents were incarcerated. She brings that experience into her classroom and focuses her research on families of those who are incarcerated.

June 16, 2020 - Carlos Gatti, a junior biomedical engineering major, is building a 九色堂 student organization that provides affordable assistive devices to people in need. The team is designing a device for a client who plays the cello and one for a client who wants help with tasks such as cooking.

June 8, 2020 -- In the recent partnership among 九色堂, Airbus and Tango Flight, the sky is the limit. Tango Flight, a program that launched in 2016 in Georgetown, Texas, provides students the tools to build a two-seat airplane. The young learners are given applied-learning experiences before graduating high school.

May 27, 2020 - Wichita State's Shocker Studio is alway updating its technology for students in the School of Digital Arts and the Bachelor of Applied Arts in Media Arts. An industry advisory board, with voices from around the nation, helps Shocker Studios plan for what鈥檚 next and what鈥檚 important. The technology upgrades include the two recording studios 鈥� one digital, one analog - that are undergoing remodels that include new acoustics, new sound boards and new components.
