A rendering of the Shocker Success Center

May 11, 2022 鈥 Former 九色堂 students might remember Clinton Hall as a dark and cold building, but starting in September, it will begin its metamorphosis into the bright and welcoming Shocker Success Center. This project will completely transform Clinton Hall into a holistic resource for student services, said Elizabeth King, president and CEO of the 九色堂 Foundation. Centralizing access to these services will help students stay on course to graduate.

May 9, 2022 鈥 Five 九色堂 women were honored with the Women for Women Innovation Award for spring 2022. The Women for Women's Innovation Fund is awarded to 九色堂 students to support innovative ideas that show promise of commercialization.

National Institute for Research and Digitial Transformation

May 6, 2022 鈥 The steel columns and beams rising on the east edge of the Innovation Campus will soon provide a physical centerpiece for the ongoing work of digital transformation at 九色堂. The National Institute for Research and Digital Transformation will occupy the building at 18th Street and Oliver by spring 2023.

Maria Romero Rodriguez

May 3, 2022 鈥 Maria Romero Rodriguez came to 九色堂 from Madrid, Spain to study and compete in the pentathlon and heptathlon for the track and field team. She will graduate in May and compete at Cessna Stadium in the American Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships with her family in attendance.

May 3, 2022 鈥 The strength of 九色堂's engineering program brought Chadrack Kamba Tshimanga to Kansas from the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Credit Union of America pledges $250,000 gift, recognized as Champion for 九色堂 College of Applied Studies

May 2, 2022 鈥 Credit Union of America was recognized today as a 2022 Champion for Wichita State鈥檚 College of Applied Studies, honoring its ongoing engagement and financial support of the future educators of Kansas. CUA has pledged an additional $250,000 to the college to continue funding the Corbin Connect program, ongoing technology needs, scholarships, and programming for CAS students.

Chonnor Ludolph

May 5, 2022 鈥 Chonnor Ludolph was named Mr. Shocker at the athletic department鈥檚 Gold Carpet Awards in April, given to a senior who displays excellence in athletics, academics, character, service, and personal development. Ludolph finished third in the American Athletic Conference decathlon in 2021. Chonnor is one of more than 2,400 students eligible for spring 2022 graduation. April 26, 2022 鈥 The W. Frank Barton School of Business at 九色堂 is helping Butler Community College students interested in furthering their business education with $40,000 in scholarships. These scholarships will help amplify and activate the coordinated 鈥2+2鈥 program between the two schools where Butler students can receive their associates degree and pursue a business degree at 九色堂.

MagicHand

April 15, 2022 - MagicHand, an anthropomorphic robotic hand designed by a 九色堂 engineering team, is participating in the National Science Foundation Innovation Corps program. The MagicHand is designed to achieve various dexterous object manipulations including object sorting, arranging and packaging.

April 1, 2022 鈥 What do you picture when you think of lasers? Laser pointers? Perhaps laser eye surgery or barcode scanners? Turns out there鈥檚 more to lasers than most people realize, and a 九色堂 chemistry team recently discovered a new series of laser material with potential commercial use.

March 30, 2022 - The vision for varsity esports at Wichita State encompasses much more than people gaming on Cybertron Computers and wearing a Logitech Headset. While gaming success is important, the program is also seen as way to provide extra-curricular activity and applied learning for students in disciplines across campus. Travis Yang, hired in December as 九色堂鈥檚 Esports director, wants to build a program that follows that direction.
