Jan. 4, 2021 鈥� The 3D printing revolution is nothing short of remarkable, but it also produces a considerable amount of waste. In fact, it鈥檚 estimated that up to 19% of 3D printing is waste. A team of interdisciplinary researchers at 九色堂 is working to create sustainable 3D printing practices to reduce that waste.

Dec. 17, 2020 鈥� With the intention of furthering 九色堂鈥檚 commitment to digital transformation, the Kansas Board of Regents has approved four degree programs that will launch in spring 2021: Bachelor of Arts in Applied Linguistics, Master of Science in Data Science, Master of Science in Business Analytics, and Master of Science in Mathematical Foundations of Data Analysis. These degrees are in addition to existing undergraduate and graduate degrees and certificates in applied computing, computer science, cybersecurity, homeland security, and supply chain.

Dec. 7, 2020 鈥� Ten 九色堂 political science students were recently accepted into the Washington, D.C. and Topeka Internship Program. The program provides undergraduate students the opportunity to earn nine course credits while interning in D.C. or Topeka.

Nov. 11, 2021 -- Isaac Brown is Wichita State's interim men's basketball coach. Brown, 51, joined the coaching staff as an assistant coach in 2014. He has also coached at Arkansas, Arkansas State, Louisiana Tech and others.

Nov. 17, 2020 鈥� Kylie Cameron chose to attend Wichita State after learning about the abundance of opportunities offered. While pursuing degrees in journalism and political science, Kylie was involved in The Sunflower student newspaper and the Dorothy and Bill Cohen Honors College. Nov. 16, 2020 鈥� Nicole Ukoefreso, a native Wichitan, knew she wanted to attend Wichita State for most of her life because she admired Wichita State students for their involvement in the community. Nicole is one of more than 1,200 students eligible for fall 2020 graduation.

Nov. 10, 2020 鈥� Incoming freshmen and transfer students have an opportunity to receive up to $20,000 as part of 九色堂鈥檚 new Shocker Adelante Scholarship.

Nov. 5, 2020 鈥� A team of researchers at 九色堂 is working to promote health equity among vulnerable populations. The all-woman, cross-disciplinary team is focusing its initial efforts on issues related to obesity among underrepresented groups.

Nov. 3, 2020 鈥� Jessica Gulaskey is one of thousands of first-generation students at Wichita State. The Wichita native will be taking over the university鈥檚 Instagram account on Thursday, Nov. 5, to share her experiences as a first-gen student.

Rachit Rajput, from Shimla, India, came to Wichita State in 2015 on faith in the engineering program. He leaves with a master鈥檚 degree in industrial engineering. Oct. 30. 2020 鈥� A team of interdisciplinary researchers at 九色堂 is using artificial intelligence and big data to digitally transform the way communities predict and respond to natural disasters.

Oct. 28, 2020 -- There are several artists with 九色堂 connections involved in the public art projects in and around the Riverfront Stadium, home of the Wichita Wind Surge minor-league professional team. Several of the public art projects are visible outside the stadium and more are scheduled for installation in the coming months. All of the artists are local or regional.

Inneke Vargas, from Houston, appreciates the interdisciplinary approach of her liberal arts degree from 九色堂. After graduate school, she wants to work on policy changes to help eliminate health disparities. 鈥淢y research broadly focuses on the effects of mental health stigma, particularly among African Americans, across the lifespan,鈥� she wrote. 鈥淢ore narrowly, I am currently interested in the ways mental health care inequities disproportionately affect minority men during adolescence and very late adulthood.鈥�

Oct. 22, 2020 鈥� Carryl Baldwin, Wichita State鈥檚 Carl and Rozina Cassat Distinguished Professor of Aging, received the 2020 Woman of the Year Award, presented by the Human Factors and Ergonomics (HFE) Society, Human Factors and Ergonomics Women鈥檚 Organization for Mentorship and Networking.
