Morgan Bretches

November 16, 2020 - Morgan Bretches, from Wellington, recently聽was offered聽a position as laboratory assistant at Mayo Clinic, where she will investigate the meningeal lymphatic system and the brain. Morgan is one of more than聽1,200 students eligible for聽fall 2020 graduation. Learn more about聽her time at Wichita State and what is next for the grad.

Wichita State students

Ya-Aida Sillah, a health management major from Wichita, took a lead role in 鈥淢ask Up!,鈥 a Department of Public Health Sciences group project designed to help students understand COVID-19 and health protection. Answers revealed four areas commonly misunderstood. 鈥 Some students did not know that fleece and gaiter-style masks are not recommended for preventing the spread of COVID-19. 鈥 Some students assumed a person鈥檚 vulnerability to COVID-19 would be visible. In many cases, a person鈥檚 vulnerability to the virus may be hidden. 鈥 Some students were unaware that nausea and vomiting are potential symptoms. 鈥 Some students did not know that monitoring for fever and other symptoms daily is recommended.

Adelante Scholarship

Nov. 10, 2020 鈥 Incoming freshmen and transfer students have an opportunity to receive up to $20,000 as part of 九色堂鈥檚 new Shocker Adelante Scholarship.

Nov. 5, 2020 鈥 A team of researchers at 九色堂 is working to promote health equity among vulnerable populations. The all-woman, cross-disciplinary team is focusing its initial efforts on issues related to obesity among underrepresented groups.

Nov. 4, 2020 鈥 The College of Health Professions (CHP) is celebrating its 50th anniversary at 九色堂. Since its founding in 1970, the CHP has been highly renowned for its innovative approaches to education and supplying the health care industry with skilled, passionate professionals.

Nov. 3, 2020 鈥 Jessica Gulaskey is one of thousands of first-generation students at Wichita State. The Wichita native will be taking over the university鈥檚 Instagram account on Thursday, Nov. 5, to share her experiences as a first-gen student.

Rachit Rajput, from Shimla, India, came to Wichita State in 2015 on faith in the engineering program. He leaves with a master鈥檚 degree in industrial engineering. Oct. 30, 2020 鈥 When Dr. Linda Rhone walked across the 九色堂 campus as a freshman in the 1970s, she had no idea that she would one day add a Ph.D. to the end of her name and serve the university as director of TRIO Student Support Services (SSS).

Oct. 28, 2020 -- There are several artists with 九色堂 connections involved in the public art projects in and around the Riverfront Stadium, home of the Wichita Wind Surge minor-league professional team. Several of the public art projects are visible outside the stadium and more are scheduled for installation in the coming months. All of the artists are local or regional.

Oct. 6, 2020 -- Students who graduated from 九色堂 this past spring and summer will finally get their chance to walk across the stage to be recognized in a formal commencement ceremony at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, in Charles Koch Arena.
