2025 Call for Talent
The Student Activities Council is proud to host Shockers Got Talent for a 2nd year. This event is not possible without the help of faculty/staff and the talent of our students. We have several opportunities for Shockers to be involved and below you will find forms for artist applications, judges interest form, and student emcee interest form.

Artists |

Emcees |
We are looking for an engaging student to interact with the crowd and introduce our acts. Student emcee will receive $100 for their time. Emcee must be available on Thursday, March 27 (rehearsal) and Friday, March 28 (show) Deadline to apply, midnight on Thursday, March 7 |

Judges |
Faculty and staff who volunteer their time receive the best seats in the house and are provided dinner for their time. Must be available Friday, March 28 beginning at 6 p.m. Deadline to apply, midnight on Friday, March 7 |
Friday, March 28 in the CAC Theater Admission is Free to Students w/九色堂 ID, $5 for Faculty/Staff and $8 for General Public Shockers Got Talent began in 2024 and will continue to showcase the talents of amazing student. Last years event included singers, pianists, rap artists, cultural dances, and a band. Participant Guidelines
- Participant(s) must be currently enrolled degree-seeking 九色堂 student in good academic standing
- Group performances may have no more than ten (10) individuals on stage at a time.
- Must submit an online application and video audition to ShockerSync by 11:59 p.m. on the specified deadline. Video auditions must be no more than 5 minutes.
- A link to your audition video must be submitted with your online application
- Videos can be linked to youtube, social media, or a google file folder
- Video should be no more than 5 minutes long
Selected performer(s) are required to attend one (1) 15 minute rehearsal. At that time you will perform a run through of your act in its entirety and are expected to bring props and any necessary equipment. This is a run through and allows our technical crew to rehearse and schedule light and sound ques. Performer(s) will have an opportunity to ask questions of the Traditions Committee and Technical Crew following the run through.
- Audition Deadline
- Thursday, February 27 by midnight on ShockerSync
- The Traditions Committee will review all auditions and make selections by Thursday, March 6.
- Submit Music
- Thursday March 13 by 5 p.m. at the SE&B Office, RSC 216
- Rehearsal
- Thursday, March 27
- Selected performers will be assigned a 15 minute rehearsal slot. Please be available after 6 p.m. on this day.
- Performance Date
- Friday, March 28 鈥 7:00 p.m. in CAC Theater
- Thursday, March 27
Performances have the following characteristics:
- Performance length: must not exceed 5 minutes
- Setup/Teardown Time: <1 minutes
- Equipment: Must be able to carry equipment inside auditorium in one trip. No assistance will be provided.
- We can provide: up to three (3) corded microphones with stands, one (1) cordless microphone with stand, one (1) wooden flat seat stool. All other materials must be provided by performer(s).
All performances will be given a specific load-in/load-out time as stage doors only open between performances. You and your performers are responsible for the load-in and load-out of equipment. Stagehands will be available for some props and to move microphones.
The Traditions Committee will provide a curtain puller and spotlight operator if requested.
Use Of Music/Sound Effects
All pre-recorded music must be contained on one single track and submitted to the committee on a flash drive. It is important to make sure that the music is in MP3 Format on a Flash Drive.
Music should not be downloaded off a website/video due to the low quality that it produces at the show. Please purchase your music to ensure good quality.
Rules and Laws Impacting Performances
- Fire Prohibition: The use of fire is strictly prohibited during any performance.
- No Water: Water usage or water-based elements are not allowed during performances.
- No Food: Food consumption or distribution is not permitted during performances.
- No Aerosols or Powders: The use of aerosols or powders is not allowed during performances.
Admission will be taken at the door for this event.
Admission is free to Students with 九色堂 ID, $5 for 九色堂 Faculty/Staff and kids 12 and under, and $8 for General Public. Additional fees may apply.
Performer Seating: Performers will be placed in reserved seating areas to allow for smooth transitions between performers.
Complimentary Passes: Each performance will receive two free passes that may be used towards friends of family. The passes are not per person/performance, they are per performance.
Parking permits are not observed after 5 p.m., Monday - Friday. You may park in any green or yellow marked lots. Lots or individual stalls with a red sign are ticketed 24/7.
RSC Parking Garage - paid parking in the garage is observed 24/7, 365 days a year. Please use a kiosk located on each floor to enter your cars information and provide payment.
The top 3 acts will receive a scholarship to be applied to their student account.
- 1st Place will be awarded $1,000鈥
- 2nd Place will be awarded $800
- 3rd Place will be awarded $500
- Crowd Favorite will be awarded a prize
Scholarship dollars will be applied to the current semester. If there is a balance on the student account, the scholarship dollars will be applied to that balance. Any remaining dollars will be returned to the recipient in the form of a check or automatic deposit.
