Overview
Shannon Hazelton joined the Environmental Finance Center in February of 2025. Throughout his career he has always been involved in Water/Wastewater utilities in some respect. He is a certified Water and Wastewater Operator in Iowa and Alaska. He has worked with a wide range of cities that have a wastewater flow of 99MGD to a city that only has 80 residents that are all on septic and only receive water from the city. He has also helped Operators in Minnesota. In his last role in Minnesota, he focused on providing training to Tribal Operators and Communities. When he was in Alaska he was living in a remote village and working alongside the native villagers. This is what led to him wanting to provide as much assistance as possible to the communities that want the help. Although he has four Grade 4 licenses in Iowa his passion is helping the smaller communities and operators. He is the AWWA-IA Education Chair and on the board for IAWEA Region 2.
