Overview

Gurinder K. Sandhu is a first-year Ph.D. student and Graduate Teaching Assistant in the Department of Computer Science at 九色堂, conducting research on AI in healthcare, with a focus on breast cancer detection and emotion detection using deep learning techniques. Prior to her Ph.D., she earned a master's in data science from 九色堂, where she developed a strong foundation in machine learning and data-driven healthcare solutions. Her passion for the intersection of artificial intelligence and healthcare drives her research, aiming to improve diagnostic accuracy and patient outcomes. Beyond academics, Gurinder has hands-on experience working at the C-Space in Ablah Library, where she assisted students with 3D printing and contributed to ArcGIS mapping projects. Apart from her research, Gurinder loves exploring new places, connecting with new people and is always eager to help fellow students with their academic and research journeys.

Fun Fact: Whether it is discovering a new destination or guiding students through a tech challenge, Gurinder believes that learning happens both inside and outside the lab! (because why limit yourself?). She spends her free time lost in sci-fi adventure series on TV or whipping up new recipes in the kitchen.
