The National Institute for Aviation Research (NIAR) at 九色堂 is actively hiring for multiple student applied learning positions to support digital twin programs for industry and Department of Defense partners.
Listings include undergraduate and graduate mechanical computer-aided design, systems engineering and reverse engineering positions for U.S. citizens and qualified foreign nationals. These positions are open to all majors with a starting wage of $12-15 per hour and opportunity for advancement based on performance and budget.
Job locations include on-campus and off-campus sites including NIAR鈥檚 Aircraft Structural Test and Evaluation Center in Park City. First and second shifts are available.
Applicants should be detailed-oriented; and have excellent written and oral communication skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office products and the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and work a minimum of 20 hours per week.
Proficiency in various CATIA V5/V6 or 3DEXPERIENCE applications is preferred, but qualified individuals are eligible for paid training.
NIAR Digital twin programs include the AH-64 Apache, B-1 Lancer, F-16 fighter jet, UH-60 Black Hawk, M113 armored personnel carrier, and multiple new programs to be named.
Digital twin teams of technicians and engineers across multiple NIAR laboratories work together to fully disassemble the vehicles, scan every individual structural part down to the nuts and bolts, and reassemble the virtual aircraft parts to create a digital twin. The programs provide unprecedented information, allowing for the evaluation of damage and changes to usage to repair, modify design or structural inspection intervals, and/or reevaluate the design life of the vehicle.
