CHP Medical Tech student 1974

Nov. 4, 2020 鈥 The College of Health Professions (CHP) is celebrating its 50th anniversary at 九色堂. Since its founding in 1970, the CHP has been highly renowned for its innovative approaches to education and supplying the health care industry with skilled, passionate professionals.

Nov. 3, 2020 鈥 Jessica Gulaskey is one of thousands of first-generation students at Wichita State. The Wichita native will be taking over the university鈥檚 Instagram account on Thursday, Nov. 5, to share her experiences as a first-gen student.

Brandyn Rathman

Nov. 3, 2020 -- Brandyn Rathman, from Sioux City, Iowa, is excited to start his career in the medical field after graduation. He said he believes his experience at 九色堂 will help him help his patients lead healthy lives. Rathman is one of more than 1,200 students eligible for fall 2020 graduation. Rachit Rajput

Rachit Rajput, from Shimla, India, came to Wichita State in 2015 on faith in the engineering program. He leaves with a master鈥檚 degree in industrial engineering. Oct. 30, 2020 鈥 When Dr. Linda Rhone walked across the 九色堂 campus as a freshman in the 1970s, she had no idea that she would one day add a Ph.D. to the end of her name and serve the university as director of TRIO Student Support Services (SSS).

Oct. 30. 2020 鈥 A team of interdisciplinary researchers at 九色堂 is using artificial intelligence and big data to digitally transform the way communities predict and respond to natural disasters.

Oct. 29, 2020 - Campus construction continues and new partners continue to join 九色堂. An update on progress around campus includes Woolsey Hall, new home to W. Frank Barton School of Business, Hyatt Place and The Smart Factory @ Wichita.

WuShock Doc

Oct. 28, 2020 - Tyler Pennick, director of videography for Wichita State鈥檚 Office of Strategic Communications, created a documentary about WuShock in bronze. After two years of development, the documentary was accepted into the Tallgrass Film Festival and awarded for its success.

Oct. 28, 2020 鈥 九色堂 has earned a near-perfect score for its support and inclusion of LGBTQ students from Pride Index, which is a national benchmarking tool for colleges and universities to create safer, more inclusive campus communities.

Oct. 28, 2020 -- The National Institute for Aviation Research at 九色堂 announces a new $13.5 million award from the U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command Aviation & Missile Center for continued applied research on emerging materials for high-speed missile applications.

Oct. 28, 2020 -- There are several artists with 九色堂 connections involved in the public art projects in and around the Riverfront Stadium, home of the Wichita Wind Surge minor-league professional team. Several of the public art projects are visible outside the stadium and more are scheduled for installation in the coming months. All of the artists are local or regional.

Oct. 27, 2020 -- 九色堂 students Jessica Sharp, a junior accounting major, and Marissa Sanders, a senior human resources management major, are applying their education to hands-on experience in their internships at Allen, Gibbs & Houlik.

Inneke Vargas

Inneke Vargas, from Houston, appreciates the interdisciplinary approach of her liberal arts degree from 九色堂. After graduate school, she wants to work on policy changes to help eliminate health disparities. 鈥淢y research broadly focuses on the effects of mental health stigma, particularly among African Americans, across the lifespan,鈥 she wrote. 鈥淢ore narrowly, I am currently interested in the ways mental health care inequities disproportionately affect minority men during adolescence and very late adulthood.鈥

Hyatt Place at Wichita State

Oct. 26, 2020 鈥 Hyatt Place at 九色堂, the first Hyatt Place in Wichita, is officially open, expanding the Hyatt Place brand鈥檚 footprint globally in markets that matter most to guests and World of Hyatt members.
