March 7, 2025 - During the past decade, 九色堂 has been a recognized leader in the development and implementation of microcredentials. Now, the university鈥檚 work has taken a significant step forward with its launch of the first 1EdTech TrustEd Microcredential.

Open Streets ICT 鈥 九色堂 & Shocker Neighborhood

March 4, 2025 - Open Streets ICT returns to 九色堂鈥檚 campus and neighborhood on April 13 with the goal of connecting with young people. Around 8,000 people participated in Open Streets ICT 鈥 九色堂 & Shocker Neighborhood in 2024, double the amount from the previous year.

March 3, 2025 Five undergraduate students from Wichita State were among the 26 students recognized at the 23rd annual Kansas IDeA Network of Biomedical Research Excellence Symposium in Kansas City, Missouri.

Feb. 27, 2025 鈥 The College of Engineering at 九色堂 is hosting its 25th annual Shocker MINDSTORMS Challenge, a robotics competition for area students in third through eighth grade or ages eight through 14 years old. The event will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 1. The competition portion will be in the Heskett Center, while the awards ceremonies will be in Hubbard Hall, room 208.

Physical Therapy pediatric team

Feb. 26, 2025 鈥 Faculty members on the pediatric team in Wichita State鈥檚 Department of Physical Therapy have been awarded a prestigious grant from the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation鈥檚 2024 Priority Impact Quality of Life grants program. The $35,000 grant will provide access to assistive technology to help students in public schools with physical disabilities.

Feb. 25, 2025 鈥 The National Endowment for the Humanities recently awarded a 九色堂 faculty member $150,000 to further develop a smartphone application that allows visually impaired people to read materials rich in visual content.

Feb. 13, 2025 - Shocker pitcher Grant Adler, who attended Derby High School, will graduate in May with a general studies - chemistry degree while continuing to pursue a degree in mechanical engineering. He will intern at Spirit AeroSystems for a second summer.

Feb. 13, 2025 Grace Naylor, senior at Prairie View High School, is the winner of the 2025 Lenora N. McGregor Endowed Scholarship at 九色堂.

Feb. 12, 2025 鈥 The College of Engineering at 九色堂 is hosting a public 5k run/walk that is open to students, staff, faculty, alumni and community members. The 5k will be from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 22 on the 九色堂 campus. Registration proceeds from the 5k will go toward the College of Engineering Needs-Based Scholarship Fund.

Feb. 10, 2025 Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas is investing $2.5 million in 九色堂, with $1.8 million earmarked as the lead gift to the Wichita Biomedical Campus. The remaining $700,000 will create two endowed Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas nursing scholarships in the 九色堂 College of Health Professions.

Sean Johnson

Feb. 7, 2025 鈥 Former Shocker baseball player Sean Johnson is assistant general manager for the Minnesota Twins. His time at Wichita State, as a player and director of operations for the baseball team, launched his career in professional baseball.
