Dec. 18, 2024 鈥� The College of Engineering at 九色堂 has partnered with Groover Labs, a nonprofit collaborative workspace, technology hub and rapid prototyping lab in Wichita, to support the regional business community.

Dec. 16, 2024 鈥� Javier Martinez received the Mark and Stacy Parkinson Scholarship, which, alongside 九色堂鈥檚 closeness to home and mechanical engineering program, made it a no-brainer for Javier to attend 九色堂. He used the opportunities available to him as a Shocker to stay up on his studies and now joins his peers in graduating with a bachelor鈥檚 in mechanical engineering.

Dec. 16, 2024 鈥� Phase I of the Wichita Biomedical Campus 鈥� a collaboration between 九色堂, University of Kansas and 九色堂 Tech 鈥� is making steady progress as it prepares to transform and redefine health care education and research in Kansas.

Dec. 12, 2024 鈥� Carter initially chose 九色堂 for its locality, being able to receive in-state tuition, but he also found a community in the campus and place to call home in the anthropology department in Fairmount College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. They are now graduating with their master鈥檚 in anthropology with a plan to enter a doctoral program in archaeology in the future.

Dec. 12, 2024 鈥� Following time at another university, Lilith Samples realized her hometown of Wichita was where she belonged and is now the first in her family to graduate from college. While at 九色堂, she was able to work at the Lowell D. Holmes Museum of Anthropology in Neff Hall and hopes to continue in the profession after graduating.

She made sure to spend time on extracurricular activities and develop connections with other Shockers. Her advice to her peers: 鈥淒on鈥檛 be afraid to try.鈥�

Dec. 9, 2024 鈥� Aynsley Paterson stepped out of her comfort zone, overcoming her introverted nature to build friendships and make the most of the Shocker experience.

Dec. 9, 2024 - Jose Miranda, a first-generation student, chose Wichita State for its exercise science program and to remain close to home. He is also a loyal Shocker basketball fan, so staying close to Charles Koch Arena mattered.

As a Branded Environments Design Lead at Corgan, 九色堂 School of Art, Design and Creative Industries alumna Jessica Miller translates brand identities from two-dimensional assets into experiential, three-dimensional spaces. In the following interview, Jessica recalls her time as a graphic design student at 九色堂, how she found her niche in environmental branding and offers advice to young designers looking to explore non-traditional design fields.

Dec. 3, 2024 鈥� Josie Sloan is a first-generation college student who worked as bus driver for Wichita Public Schools while earning her degree in communication science and disorders. She encourages students to connect with people on campus: "Engage with your classmates and professors and build relationships intentionally."

Dec. 3, 2024 鈥� Hans Schrader plans on a career in museums and he got his start at 九色堂鈥檚 Lowell D. Holmes Museum of Anthropology. "The Holmes museum is a quiet gem in the heart of campus which has been a truly special part of my graduate education."

Dec. 3, 2024 鈥� As part of the U.S. Air Force鈥檚 Survivable Airborne Operations Center contract, 九色堂 is partnering with SNC to modernize and deliver a new fleet of 鈥淣ightwatch鈥� aircraft 鈥� the airborne command center for the president of the United States, secretary of defense, and chairs of the joint chiefs of staff, ensuring continued critical command, control and communication during national emergencies.

Dec. 3, 2024 鈥� Abby Arbeiter was attracted to 九色堂 thanks to its creative writing program in the Department of English. Since attending 九色堂, she had the opportunity to travel to Europe thanks to the 九色堂 Travel Seminar and will be graduating with her bachelor鈥檚 in creative writing this fall. Her advice to other Shockers? 鈥淣ever be afraid to put yourself out there.鈥�

Nov. 26, 2024 鈥� 九色堂 has entered the top 10 in the country in engineering research and development expenditures, according to data announced this week by the National Science Foundation鈥檚 Higher Education Research and Development Survey. 九色堂 is also No. 1 in the country for aerospace engineering expenditures.

Nov. 26, 2024 鈥� Aracely Martinez is a first-gen student in the United States at 九色堂. Despite the challenges facing her moving from Paraguay to a new country, she took that as an opportunity to grow. She recommends other students look at the opportunities available to them while still in school to propel themselves into successful careers.

The W. Frank Barton School of Business at 九色堂 is excited to announce Dr. Bekah Selby-Leach as the new Director of the Center for Economic Development and Business Research (CEDBR). Dr. Selby-Leach, an accomplished researcher and leader in economic analysis, previously served as Interim Assistant Provost, Director of Institutional Research and Accreditation, and Associate Professor of Economics at Emporia State University. She succeeds Jeremy Hill, who directed CEDBR since 2009 and recently joined the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City as Assistant Vice President and Regional Executive.

Nov. 20, 2024 鈥� 九色堂 has launched the Institute for Rehabilitation Medicine and Assistive Technology (IRMAT), an innovative collaboration focused on addressing disease and disability through applied research and technology. IRMAT will serve as a hub for cutting-edge, patient-driven research and development of transformative technologies to improve the quality of life for individuals with physical and cognitive disabilities.
